Im fitting a new cassette onto my rear wheel,

Should I be putting grease onto the splines on the freehub before putting the cassette on?? :?

Any reason why i shouldnt give it a light coating??

I never bother but I can't see it doing any harm.

I always put a light coat of grease on the freehub. No harm in doing so.

I alwasy put a very light smear on metal free hubs just to stop them from rusting.

I do particularly if the freehub is steel. While you're at it do the skewer too.
