Which brands would you say offered the best value bikes?

Which brands would you say offered the best value for money in these categories?

Sub £500 hardtails

£500- £999 hardtails

£1000+ hardtails

Sub £999 full suspension bikes

£1000 - £2000 full suss

Mostly aimed at XC/trail riding

I think I know the answers, but I'm curious to see what the forum thinks are the best value in those categories

For most of these, carrera offer pretty good value really, as do boardman and voodoo. Just a stigma with the names really

Own brand bikes are not a viable option in this instance, even though they do represent good value

Well stuff like konas ar good, best bet would be to get something from last year on sale
If deals are considered and not just straight up deals

The first thing to mind, especially sub £1k would be halfords brands.
After that, then Specialized, Trek and Giant, in no particular order.

If your looking for a new bike then this is the answer.
August to October is when next years bikes start appearing in the press and dealers start to knock of 20-30% off the retail on the current bikes to make room for next years stock, which usually appears in the showroom before the new year.
My advice would be to give it a month, then look for brands or shops offering the biggest discounts
