Seat post clamp/setback thingy ID help! (pic inside)

Yea the clamp bit on the post exiting the seat tube joining the sawn off post.
I have seen them on a few bikes, usually lobos!
It's naff I know but it's the sorta thing I might whack on a spare post for those times you just take the bike for a sea side cruise n a bag of chips :0

Maybe but it's a tall frame and I'm in a decent leg length position with the seat nearly all the way down, to use a layback I might have to run the seat a little high..
I wouldn't ride it hard with that fitted, I share your concern that it would break something if I came pounding down on it.
