 Post subject: quick orange 5 question

which front mech do i need?
got my frame back from t'powdercoater (very shiny :D ) this week so started to put it back together but there is no way the xt mech i bought is going to fit,it's a bottom swing :(
so i'm guessing i need a top swing,just checking before i throw more good money away :cry:

My 2005 definatley has an XT top swing, top pull. (although I think most these days are both top and bottom pull compatible)

Not sure of the band size off the top of my head though.

31.8mm clamp IIRC (if the post is a 27.2)

Although the newer ones use a 34.9 (I think) as they use a fatter seatpost diameter so you can use a wider variety of dropper seatposts

Always get top/bottom swing mixed up but my 2009 5 (and my old 2006) uses a 31.8 with the cable running along the top tube then down the seat tube.

Top swing are the type where only the cage is visible from the side if that makes sense.

31.8 sounds right actually as is a 27.2 seat post.
