Brand new bike (cycle to work) decision

AR-CoolC

Retrobike Rider
So I'm pre-empting our soon to start cycle to work scheme which will be delt with through Evans.

I've given myself a £600 budget, but will stretch it if necessary. Now I'm not really up to speed on the modern stuff, so any advise on what's good/bad/indifferent in that price bracket would be helpful.

Now I like the look of the Felt Q620

and I've always had a soft spot for Binachi sinse having a racer as a teenager. Kuma 5300

I did like the Trek's I had a shufty round at the LBS too, but it looks like £600 only gets low end models. 4500 disc

So looking through this list, is there anything that springs out to you knowledgable folk as another to look at?

What about a 2010 Specialized Rockhopper. Nice frames and de my kit. The '11 model recently got best of test in MBR. Think it'll be the comp model.

I've been reading some rave reviews of the BMC Blast too.

Decisions, decisions.

I've got plenty of time to look though, as knowing my work it'll take an age to get put in place

have you considered buying something to sell on?
to get something on here?

there (above) all very nice but a bit lacking on the components at that prics, thats how i feel
but

cinder cone looks like a good deal to me
and the buffer looks very very good too
and the steely
ghost miss (womens  )
the jamis dakar is pretty well specced being a full sus in that category!
bmc blast (pretty good spec again)
saracen zen 2 (looks ot be one of the best there!)
kona five-o (heavy hitter
pinnacle jarrah 4
lapierre tecnic

that would be my shortlist
without thinking too much into it
that saracen zen looks like an ultra bargain

Thanks for the shortlist, the Zen is only available in 14" so wayyyy to small for me.

I'm not sure I'm brave enough to sell it on whilst still in the scheme time still

yeah id be the same

oh thats a real shame
consder the rest then (my fault, i did say without thinking  )

the buffer looked good as did the five-o

I think the genesis core looks good. Or the latitude if you prefer steel. Good uk spec bikes with loads of mud clearance.

I would get down there and ride as many as you can. It's the only way to know if it suits you. They will get any bike to the store for a deposit.

Have fun shopping!

as I undertand it ,the scheme is not so good now . you will have to pay quite a large amount at the end of it .
