Are Triple-clamps "allowed" on HT's?

Just curious if it's another no-no having triple-clamp forks on a hardtail. Sort of like having bar-ends on risers?

It makes you look like a chav. Otherwise I don't see why not. They're probably stiffer than single crowns though so I would use a strong frame...

Course you can:

^ Pretty much.

Depends on what your frame is. Some manufacturers suggest you don't use triple-clamps on some of their hardtails, like Orange for example.

Looks like I'll have to get the *********** (to be filled in soon?!?!?!) then

Many hardtails won't be designed to take the additional stress placed on the frame around the headtube. This is largely due to the extra length that most triple clamps have, which is also likely to screw up the geometry of the frame.

Plus it will look awful.

Looks good on frames that are built for them, like dual slalom hardtails.

The problem is that nearly all hardcore bikes look a bit silly when out of their intended environment.
