Picking up and paying for an S-Works Epic from around 2007 tomorrow. Want to know what I should look for in giving it the once over?

Has brain fade shock and float 80 rls.

Bit clueless really so any advice appreciated.

Thx

Check that rear shock really works. Bearings in pivots likely to need replacing.

Is there a fool proof test for the shock?
If the bearings are gone will their be play in the pivots?

It's one of these right?

Check condition of pivots by removing shock and see how gritty the bearings feel. Also check for lateral play.

Important to check that the carbon round the bearings in the main frame is not damaged. Look for small cracks/deformations.

Re. shock - only way to test it is to ride it. Does it lock out when it's suppose to and does it move when it's supposed to. Brain valves are "sensitive" and need regular services. Find out when seller last had it serviced.
