I'm buying a 'new' bike  :D

I have decided what I want, and have been offered an amazing deal on a brand new one, build however I an my budget desire.

However, I have just seen an ad for a used bike the same, with fairly good parts, for less than the new one will cost.

Edit-Prices:
New £1000ish
Second hand £600ish

I don't know what to do, what do you lot think?

Personaly i'd go for used and spend a few quid on it if it needs it eg: service forks / new shock bushes and bearings and still have a fair few quid in my pocket

Fair point. Prices:

New: Frame £300 parts at cost + 10% - about £1000

Second hand £600
That's a decent enough saving, BUT is it the spec you want?

Not exactly. But it's good.
I would be tempted to change the cranks, grips, saddle...

Even very nice cranks grips and saddle wouldnt set you back more than £200. Thats before selling what is on there already.

If the new is more future-proof Id be tempted but if not, second hand seems a much better deal.

A lot of fickle people on ebay.Take your maximum budget and get bidding ;)
At the very least you'll save 40%
