Post subject:  The other "HOW MUCH IS MY xyz WORTH" thread for 98

Due to what would seem to be popular demand we've decided to setup a thread dedicated to "How much is my old bike/parts/hat worth?"

If you have a vintage/retro item and would like to know the value my suggestion would be to look back through the classifieds here and browse back though ebay.

If you really have no idea then post in this thread here ONLY. "How much" threads elsewhere will be deleted or locked.

We'll let this run and see how it goes. If you get an answer you don't like don't come running to the mods

If for some reason you feel the need to comment on the validity of how much threads please do so here.

I have just picked up a Santa Crux Heckler X ('99) in an attempt to relive my youth!

As a result my Specialized frame will be going begging. Any idea what it might be worth? Paint is in decent nick for the year. Shock is ok however would probably benefit from a rebuild. Bushes creak sometimes so I guess would ideally need to be replaced although it is still smooth.

Frame only, same model and colour scheme as below (cannot post links yet!)

2008 Specialized epic comp, full bike. Standard apart from running an XT M770 chainset and modern XT SPD's.

Overall good condition, ends of grips scuffed up from leaning against walls/floors etc.

Cost £1750 in the summer of 08, what am I quoted for the spring of 2011?

Hi folks. So, I found the right place for this now! I joined the forum a few months back and have since moved house, have just found time to upload some photos of my C'dale. Sale needed to buy a new road bike. Shame, it was an 18th Birthday present but I simply don't use it any more. Have upgraded a few things over the years (Manitou Spider Forks, Azonic Bars, Stem, Deore crankset). Any clues on vlaue would be gratefully recieved, any sensible offeres too would be grand.

Size is 'Large', I think it's a 21" frame (!). The frame is in sound condition, it's been kept indoors all the time I've had it.

Let me know if I've missed any important information, I'd be happy to find out. I also have the original forks and bars.

Cheers,

Very Good Condition looked after and not overly used dispite its age.

I would of put this in the road "what's it worth" thread but there doesn't seem to be one.

I have a Klein quantum 2000/2001 model. Frame is in good condition, although there is some very small areas of paint damage around the internal cable routing entry/ exits. Shimano 105 throughout. What's it worth as a frame fork combo and what are the components likely to fetch online? ( I'm keeping the wheels though)

I may have accidentally posted this in the wrong area so I am posting it again here.

I have a 1993 Al-mega XT. The original decals were fades and the frame had the usual dings and chips so I reciently stripped down the entire bike and cleaned/polished all the parts and had the frame, seat post, bar ends, and stem powder coated jet black with sparkle overlay.

The components consist of:
Mavic 230 TIB Rims with XTR hubs (Srtaight and True)
New WTB Prowler XT 2.5 Tires
Shimano Deore XT V-Brakes
Shimano Deore XT Front/Rear Derailers
Note: the front derailer is not installed on the bike
Race Face Cranks
New barings in bottom bracket

The bike rides great and I really don't want to get rid of it, because I bought the frame, with forks, BB, stem and handlebars and built it up from there in 1993 and 1994. I haven't rode is as a Mt Bike for years and it would benifit me to get a road bike (gee that makes me sound old). Anyway, any ideas what this might go for? Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Minty Sauce - Maybe worth around 20-25 unpainted and around 50-60 painted. Depends where you sell though, maybe get more on ebay and depends on the paintjob!

Although quite common, I like the ride feel of modern GT ally frames and they're good all-rounders.

Recent frames (last few years) normally go for around £80-100 if in good condition.

There may be a market for these here, especially if someone is building using the rasta coloured King headset and/or Kooka cranks.

All depends on if somebody wants them at the time you sell them.

I got a set of mint 2002 for £50.00 last year and a mint set of 2003 with a specific hope m4 brake for £120.00.

Weight put's a lot of people off , but i don't care as my bike weight 60lb.

Also a good investment for these would be the specific direct mount stem.
I got a set of 2003 monsters in 2010 with the original seals in and they were still perefect.

These are bomb proof forks and will out last any component and a nulcear

Though i do prefer the retro monsters more

Hi all

First post (so hope this is in right place) mate off the BMX forum I usually go on referred me here

I have a USE titanium seatpost from 91/92 which I was thinking of cutting down and using on a BMX project. Before it goes to the grinder thought it might be a good idea if I checked how valuable it might be first

It's in good nick apart from a missing sticker and the alloy bolts that hold the thing together have faded over the years (although saw these on CRC so could be replaced with new easily enough) the clamp bit is ano'd purple

can put up some pics/dimensions etc later but any advice gratefully received

cheers

Just wondering what the going rate would be for my klein adept race?

19" frame.
xt cranks, front mech and shifters, xtr rear mech.
bontrager wheels, seatpost, bars and stem.
hope headset.

Everything works, all the gears are fine, the forks and shock seem ok, no play in the pivots etc.

Diamondback Axis Racing 19"

stiff as new - and it was amazingly stiff for a Tange.
Ritchey Logic Super Tubing Tange Prestige

quite a few chips on seattube (I hate gravel!), chainsuck marks, cable rub - paint/lacquer still in good condition.
bought as new and build up ONCE.
Includes cane creek headset and XT bottom bracket - both smooth.

This is a real stretcher for a 19" - it will take 80-100mm travel depending on fork length - my 63mm judy sl was way too short!

How much do you lot think would be reasonable to pay for a 2007 Orange Clockwork in pretty good condition? The one I'm looking at is the 'S' model that I think came in around £800 new. LX + Deore with RS Tora forks.

righto,it's time that one of these has to go.i'm just not getting out enough and if something else catches my eye the mrs would go ape if i came home with another sooooo what are they worth?the xtr wheels on the orange will be staying with whichever bike i keep so the bike i sell will have the hope (sport??) hubs on mavic 317 wheels on

first up - orange five

stripped to bare metal, powder coated and bearings replaced.chris king headset painted to match frame.
xt front and rear mech.xtr chainset has been replaced with xt 770,
thomson stem and seatpost, easton carbon monkeylite bars, hope m4 brakes (black and gold stylee),rock shox revelation u-turn forks and the hope wheels.everything on the bike is immaculate, frame has no chips or cble rub to the paint

Image

second up - santa cruz superlight

10 years old but very low mileage with minimal cable rub to the frame, everything in excellent condition.marzocchi xfly 100 forks,xt groupset, hope m4 brakes (old silver stylee) titec seatpost.orange stem and bars.fox float r rear shock still works great and the hope wheels

Image

another option is for the five frame on its own with the chris king headset.
pictures really don't do the paintwork any justice at all,it looks far better in real life.

Think cyfa was optimistic with respect. Seen a fair few zaskars go for £200-250 recently, I couldnt shift my backwoods in mint condition, D521 on xt wheels and Marzocchi Z2 forks for £170, so I would say £120-140 for yours mate.Complete bike.

Howdy One and All,

I'm selling this for my girlfriend. I bought it for her in '04 16" and it is IMMACULATE!!! Only slight discolouration on seatpin where it has sat in the frame, but no scratches on entire bike.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/68159528@N ... hotostream

As you can see the front forks have been changed as she only used it to go down gravel paths, but I have the originals and as you can see they still have their transfers covered with the protective film!

In all it's only had about 70 miles of usage (at most)! I'm selling it to get her a hybrid or a 29er. I want to sell the bike with the forks on it and the suspension forks included as we've no use for both.

NO SPLIT. The lot goes all as one, so I need an idea on the price

I've no idea on price. It's practically a showroom bike. TIOGA PSYCHO II tyres included in the sale.

Just a tentative thought at the moment.............. still undecided about moving this on :(

2002, 17 1/2" Dave Yates made with 853 throughout, including all rear stays, rides like an absolute beast!

Built for 100mm forks and V brake only. Paintwork in 9/10 condition and only one tiny little dent under the downtube where the fork crown has hit it - but really very small and in an invisible place.

Asking for valuation estimates on frame only please :)

Hi there,

First post (second if you count moving the post to the right place!)

I have a 1998 Kona Stab (flame style paint job) in small frame size. I've had it for around 10 years or more now and it gets an outing a few times a year but I'm beggining to think it would be best to sell it on.

Could anyone give me an idea of value? I have seen only 1 other come up on Ebay but it was quite well used and didn't make reserve so got removed.

thanks in advance...

Hello
Been advised to post this on here for advice....

http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=204937

I have had an offer from another forum of £300 posted (so around £275 cash after courier).

Is that too little? Had it suggested about breaking it down, which obviously risks people wanting all the different bits, so before I possibly accept the offer tomorrow could I have some advice?

I geniually don't know!

Thanks

Interested to know what this frame would bring. Its a 98 Zaskar LE, never been thrashed but has been enjoyed since I got the frame to settle an insurance claim. Stickers on downtube are a little disturbed by having a crud catcher of some description on it virtually since I got it but all stickers are original. Has an FSA Orbit Extreme headset in it which is bob on and has been looked after for the past 14 years. It is also around 18" IIRC, can't remember the size but top tube sits a little higher than my medium Pace RC303.

Any ideas on a price? Would be mint with a polish.

Looks a bit cleaner than this.

Secondly a limited edition Charge Spoon Surface saddle and finally some pedals that look like they were white, but the paint is coming off, so would be good stripped and polished. Any ideas?

I estimate about £110 for the zaskar frame.

Joplin posts are £120ish new so circa 60-70 IMO.

Charge spoon saddle with cro-mo rails are only £20 new so not worth much. If titanium rails then £80ish new so works £35-40.

Pedals I have no idea.

Hello,

Some c*nt robbed the wheels off my Scott Sub 50. I had 3 locks on it too. Bike thieves don't mess about do they. I've only had it a month or so. Bought from Evans Cycles for £275 in the sale to be used as my shopping, around town, commuting bike.

I was going to buy another set of wheels to get it back on the raod, but I think I'm just going to build a shitty beater now. Something that hopefully won't get nicked.

So, I was wondering how much I could sell it for without the wheels? Would I be better off splitting it?

I was considering it. There's some wheels on Bankrupt and Surplus. But once I've bought tyres and tubes I will have sunk more cash into it. I've already got some 26" wheels and enough tatty parts to build a beater up. So, yeah, basically just want to recoup some of the money I paid for it and move on.

I don't expect to get much. I don't know what I was thinking getting a bike with white wheels, it screams "steal me!"

Post subject:  Specialised Rockhopper FS 1999

I have a Spec Rockhopper FS from 1999 (in the brushed silver) that i want to sell to fund a new hardtail, question is what is it worth? I know i havent got pics (yet) but the frame really is minty mint, i have had it for 9 years and barely rode it during that time (had a second bike that got more use)
Its the original spec:
http://www.bikepedia.com/QuickBike/Bike ... &Type=bike

except the shifters packed up so i stuck some 2011 XT jobbies on there. It has a bontrager stem that is knackered so i am replacing with an Easton EA50 just to get it up and running, oh and a fairly new bontrager flat xc bar.

So the question is how much? And mores the point would i get more by splitting the bits (that way i could recoupt the XTs by sticking them on the new bike!)

Also given this is on the cusp of retro age would any of the components be of use to the pre '97 side of the forum?

Cheers in advance.

I'm looking to shift a pair of wheels but not sure what they are worth.

Bontrager Superstock, rim brake with Bontrager hubs. They were originally on a pretty high end Gary Fisher XTR equipped hardtail. So pretty decent spec I'd say.

They are in pretty much perfect condition and pretty fancy for a nice clean build. Black rims with a tough slightly shiny finsih with no chips or damage, all stickers still intact, They would look smart as hell on a nice clean build as the front is 24 spoke radial and the rear is standard laced 28 spoke.

Any ideas?

Can't help with the value of the forks, but the rest of that GT is probably worth about £30 or so, but I can give you £50 now as I am just too bloody generous like that!

How much would my Raleigh RSP 300 Reynolds 853 frame with RST 22A rear shock in excellent condition cost?

Cost or value? This one is very subjective.

Worth here I meant, if I were to sell it how much would the going rate be?

Just seen a blue and yellow one (frame only) go for £120 posted yet have seen the full bike go for the same. Saw another of the frames go for around £50.

As above, if you look on completed listings on ebay the one like yours went for £120 posted, but there is a complete mint bike on there for £299 which has had no takers. There was a dowhnhill version in white went for £100 with forks, seatpost and a few parts. They do vary a lot in price.

Definitely better off stripping the rocky if you can be arsed, might be a bad example but there was one on here near me in Exeter for only £500 I think for ages and don't think it sold. But if I was to guess, with your spec, would say about £600, which is peanuts for such a nice bike.

I'm thinking of putting this up for sale, I need the money to fund another build or repairs to my car (depending on how it does in it's MOT!)

The frame is in incredible condition, I've ridden it 3 times in 5 years and before that It was ridden once by the original owner who bought it from Raleigh direct as he was a former Raleigh employee.

Spec:

1999 Raleigh RSP 600 Titanium frame (made in the UK)
Full LX groupset inc hubs.
Rond Magura Forks
Rond Magura Headset
Azonic Stem
Wellgo DMR copy pedals

Any ideas on price or what I might get on Ebay would be gratefully received.

Hey, was wondering what my FSR XC Stumpjumper frame is worth approx...
Manitou SX shocks, bought as seen in pic minus stem/handlebar.
Not looking to sell as I just bought for a build.. think its a '99 model, very good condition, previous owner didnt use much from the looks of it.
Not really up to speed on values of older bikes, just wanted to gauge if I got a good deal.

Think you would be better off taking the better parts off and putting stock/cheapies on. Reckon £70 ish but with a ritchey stem or no name etc would make no difference if that makes sense?

Guessing a bit on value, have a look on ebay should have some completed listings for closer guesses.
