iam getting a set of boxxers at the weekend and i want to get the lower legs re-painted.
How hard/easy is it to disassemble the forks and more importantly put them back together

cheers guys

First of all very easy.
1.Take the crowns off
2.remove the top caps
3.remove the springs and pre-load spacers.
4.drain the oil out of the stanchions.
5.loosen the bolts on the bottom
6. leave the bolts in and tap with a hammer this will loosen the stanchions
7. remove the stanchions and the attatched internals will follow
8. the internals should slide out of the top of the stanchions.
9. remove the circlip at the bottom of each stanchion
10. remove the valve in the bottom of each stanchion
11. clean all the inside of the stanchions and parts.
12.then rebuild.

Dependending on what year and make of Boxxer they are , this is for the boxxer race up to year 2005.

1.First of all put the Boxxers on.
2.Perhaps a few more clothes to build the exitement.
3.Sit your girlfriend on a chair in front of you.
4.Start a thumping tune like "Big Spender" by shirley bassey.
5.Slowly and in time with the music remove all clothing one piece at a time throwing them towards your girl.
6.Finish with the Boxxers.... damn you mean the forks don't you.....

....I'll get me coat. :)

2003 team , just strip them down like i said , maybe good to replace the seals.
Clean all the parts including the inside of the stanchions and the lowers.

I'm doing the exact same thing on 2005 race.
