I've got a M570 9 speed shifter, i've also got a SRAM x-9 rear mech.
Question is, are they compatible?

As above,nope

Shimano use a 2:1 ratio and Sram use a 1:1 ratio, iirc

i never thought id be biased but i now prefer my sram setup to my deore

Yes, yes and apparently yes...
Well not normally, but with a Jtek Shiftmate made by these guys in a big shed ;)

you can run almost any shifter with any mech.

I have never used one just know of them (I think I noticed them on good old SJS Cylces website)

Thanks folks, at $40 for an adaptor i think i'll search out an x-9 shifter :D
