I have a 22.34.44 crank and a 12.13.14.15.17.19.21.24.27 cassette.
If I understand correctly :
Crank : 44 - 22 = 22
Cassette : 27 - 12 = 15
22 + 15 = 37
So I need a mech with a 37 tooth capacity ?
According to CRC my mech copes with 33 tooth difference.
So does this just mean that on my small cog and my smallest 4 sprockets I will just have a slack chain ?
If so that's not really a problem is it because two are 'bad' gears anyway ?
How much 'margin' is there on the figures shimano quote ?
My old setup on the Marin with a short cage XT was similar and never caused a problem ? I had a 12.28 and the mech has a 28 tooth capacity. I only seem to remember a slack chain on the bottom 2 suggesting the figures quoted are on the safe side ? :?
All input appreciated
