Marin Bobcat Trail 98 Questions

I have a friend with a 98 Marin Bobcat Trail in a Large Size that he is wanting to put a suspension fork on. What are the limits on this sort of frame? I know he is looking at something modern and what he was looking at seem to have a travel of between 85mm and 130mm so would guess he needs to not go above a certain travel.

Any advice guys?

I run a 100mm sync fork on my shoreline trail and it handles fine, i dont think it would suit anymore travel then this but then again I suppose its down to personal preference. Very good frames!
