Considering some I9 hydra hubs for a wheelset against some hope pro 4,s.

Has anyone had first hand experience of the I9 and Uk riding. Purely a summer bike however.

Generally really good. The factory bearings might not always be up to UK winters but sounds like that ain't an issue for you and you can just buy some that are, if/when you kill them.

Thanks for the response

I’ve actually decided to go with Hope again. 2 reasons - they are known to last and also I’m not sure I could live with I9 sound.

Waiting for the wheels to be built now

Lad has them on his bike. They do as sound great & the minimal take-up is amazing. That said the bearings seem to have gone on the rear. On the do list for this week. I wanted him to get Hope again.

Re:

I have a customer who owns a Zerode Taniwha with a Pinion gearbox.
He runs Industry Nine hubs and the freehub body bearings don't seem to last very long.
He's spoken with I9 a few times and they won't of course acknowledge any design flaws.
Could well be exacerbated by the large single rear sprocket and high torque which occurs with gearbox bikes and may fair better with a more regular set up.
