Flat pedals for road bike. Which one to choose?

Hi guys,

I'm asking for an advice not regarding a retro bike ( :eek: ).
What flat pedals would you suggest for a road bike? My wife bought a Cannondale and the pedals it came with are rubbish. The spindle is really really rough.
Any suggestion?
Within a £25/£30 budget would be nice, if possible.

I've been using these of aliexpress - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32885052317.html?though i fitted longer bolt/pins. These are 3 sealed bearings and seem similar to nukeproof electrons. I've recently bought some https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B015STFGXI/ - price varies widely depending on colour - these have a cartridge bearing and an adjustable thrust bearing. Any decent flat pedals with cartridge bearings though i've gone off ones that include a bushing as these can wear out.

I've never tried pedals that are so wide. Or should I say long, as I am referring to the dimension perpendicular to the spindle.

Do they offer a good grip?

DMR V8? Not the lightest and designed for MTB, so they might look chunky on a road bike. However, they hit your price point, they're well regarded, and you can service them. Comfortable too. Available on Amazon UK.
 
Have a look at the MKS range, lots of different variants. They have very good quality bearings and last well.
 
I got some nice welgo pedals that have been getting some road bike use, they have holes for toeclips too if you ever fancy it.

Think the model was the M142 and they has silky smooth bearings too.

I'm looking at the MKS pedals. I notice that some of them have some "lips" of metal on the outer cage.
Do you know what is their function?

I'd also recommend some wellgos.

I currently run the mg-1s on a mtb, changed from dmr years ago and never looked back. Cheaper, lighter, better grip in any weather.

I was so impressed I found a smaller version which I run on my road bike. Model is r146 I think... In fact just noticed planet x are selling them at 14.99!

They are a tad small for my feet, but again grip is fantastic, and being magnesium they are super light too
