Am embarking on a new build and have the option of era-correct (2002-2004) Magura brakes, one set of Louise SL and one set of Marta's. Just wondered how these are in terms of reliability, power etc. and whether parts are still readily available.

Any advice or opinions would be appreciated, cheers.

I had some magura julies on my cannondale scalpel,(2002) and thought they were pants. Can't advise on the models you mention.

I never had any problems with them. Lovely kit. Easy to fit new blocks. And once fitted and leave & ride.

Agreed, no problems with Louises. If you are comfortable with bleeding hydraulics then they are easy to work on.

Agree also, 1x Louise + 1x Marta, 1x Marta SL...all great little brakes.
Neat and tidy with very easy servicing.

Carbon brake levers on the Msrta SLs do feel a bit flimsy in my head, but I've never actually had a problem.

All the best,
