I'm a year or more away from retiring my own, but with Merlin's demise there is a mine now of artisan builders.

Without heading into mega money (Alchemy, ahem...) this lad looks to fit the bill :

That Merlin is beautifully made but I'm just a little bored of seeing bare TI frames...seem to be ten a penny these days.

Merlin reboot #3

After the ill-fated Competitive Cyclist episode choice to include in carbon (gasp!) but a new Boulder, CO operation is up & running.

I have to say, I don't think for long based on their marketing (for the road bike for example...)

Is it just me or does this bike look terrible..?

* Yes, I know bikes come in all sizes but for publicity shots a taller bike with a longer head tube does look better..?
* Ultegra on the first bike picture you see? Anyone buying this will be Dura Ace (or better)..?
* Rolf wheels are USA sourced yes, but red decals for the publicity..?
* Brake hoses hanging on the down tube..?

Personal taste all, but I want to WANT a Merlin, not to be driven away...
