Fixing loose rivets on Hope Floating Rotor

fiendish feet

Retro Guru
While hunting for a annoying clicking noise which appeared on a ride.
i stripped down my steed for complete grease up ,and general going over.

When mounting the rear wheel i noticed their was some play well quite a lot of play in the Hope floating rotor ,sod it i'm skint typical ..
Any way whipped off the rotor and found four of the rivets was very loose
with 2-3 mm play.
i phoned Hope to see if their was anything they could do, as they haven't
been abused ,braking surface is still plenty.
Hope said nothing can be done and to bin it ,and buy new...
Anyhow a bit off research lead me to motorbike disc rotor repairs.
few guys were repairing rivets by putting steel ball bearing either side of rivet and swashing in a C-clamp..
So found a couple of 3-4 mm ball-bearings and proceeded to clamp them down ...
Perfect job no play in rotor ,job done
Only problem my bike is still clicking as i need new bearing in hope bb now..
Just putting this out there for poor people like me...

Re:

I wish I knew this before throwing away a hope rotor. Nice tip for any future play in the replacement.
