You can get the bits from Ebay, I think. It's got to be the damper that's sticking so you'll need to strip that and have a look.

I am sure the air sleeve is getting stuck down - it compresses with correct resistance but refuses to spring back

I stripped it again and put more grease in it and it nearly work - the air is getting trapped in the air can so if I can replace everything in the can and on the piston I reckon that will be it.

I think the issue is the air seeping past the seals and sucking the piston in. New seals should fix it.
