Thanks for the info, very interesting. I love a learning curve.

Mine don't have the holes in the crown, it's solid..........Is this likely someone making a set from other bits or was there a model with the air valves in that position but with a solid crown.

Probably just needed a different length crown and used that one.

It was a few years ago I had to suddenly learn all about them, in fact, bombers of any kind for that matter.
Just had a look and much longer ago than I thought 2009.
Feck me just seems like yesterday I was getting and building that bike. (A green 97 Kona Explosif) no wonder everything on it is knackered and worn out, creaking or grinding. Especially as it was ridden through winters and snow.
