1998 Kona Hahanna refurb

Retro Newbie
It's been neglected in the shed for a couple of years since someone nicked the wheels but it was a great bike and I'd really like to get it back on the road again.

I don't have any experience of restoring bikes so I'm not sure what modern parts would be compatible. I should only need wheels and a rear cassette (7 speed). Any advice or suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks in advance.

Any set of rim brake wheels will do. You will need a 3mm spacer behind the 7 speed cassette as modern wheels have a longer freehub body to take 8 or more gears.

Thanks hamster, that's good to know.

Any particular wheels you would recommend? I did look at used ones on ebay but they seem pricey so now I'm leaning towards new ones but I don't want to spend a fortune.

For cheap wheels try Taylor Wheels on eBay.
Personally I'd go for Mavic 317 on Deore hubs for a decent price / performance / durability compromise.
