dont know much about these frames myself, but have you tried fitting a shimano e-plate front mech?? (b/b mount)
 
Thanks Xeo, a completely non-standard BB kind of rules this out.
I've been lucky enough to have some emails from Gary Fisher personally. It's just a matter of time, once I've had chance to tinker a bit more I'm sure I'll figure it out....
