easton frame? Cracked but cheap.

Anyone any idea what that is/was? It has a very distinctive CNC seat stay bridge... which I don't recognise at all!

Looks like a fairly generic, cheap eastern built frame, like the old heffs, lancs merlin or others. I'd say it's proper skip fodder, especially if you need to get a new rear hanger (how easy to find when you don't know what the bike is) and have a crack welded on a welded area of an old, lightweight ali.

But on the plus side the guy says that this crack, on a junction where a 12" cantilevered beam sits with up to 200lb applied to the opposite end, will have no impact on the strength of the bike so I feel assured to bid in confidence, safe in the knowledge that cheap, lightweight ali would never catastropically fail at that crack, especially when riding at speed :? :D

im wondering how good a mate the guy was to give him a potentially fatal frame like that.
plus 1.9 kilo for a ali frame is not light.
