MC specialised in drop-bar, non-disc, sometimes fixed-gear off-road frames (26/29/Cyclo-X). He also hosted a radio programme, and did a few other interesting things (like prepping rally cars? Or is my memory playing tricks on me?).

He had a very interesting website and 'zine about his approach to bike design and was (is) a bit of a cult builder. ("Elusive artisan bloke with welding torch living in a hut up a mountain with no phone/ car/ TV" type stuff)

Unfortunately, he had a few health and personal issues and quit frame building a few years ago.

It seems that some people had paid him deposits and never received their frames. There's a very long, very nasty thread on MTBR about this, but let's not go there.

I think the same thread suggested that he was on the mend and maybe (???) getting back into frame building (???).

Bottom line: Lovely bike.

Why the refusals about Clark Kent?

Don't know for sure.
But I've read a few posts on MTBR over the years about QC/ longevity of Clark Kent frames being rather "patchy".

For a 1-man frame-shop, repairing other people's questionable work is a bit of a minefield. Best avoided.

^^guessing.^^

ridden one, it was nicely made, cant really comment on the ride etc though as it was fixed, 2 inches too big for me and had Jones H bars on it... niche-tastic it were.
