Dunno Scant, I thought the system performed better than the fancy Paul stuff.

I was surprised to see the set finish at $405.00, nostalgia for vintage items is def paying off.

To be honnest Shimano works better than anything else . its reliable and not expensive to maintain , but it is not very original .

I do not take much pleasure in knowing I have a shimano on my bike whereas i would be really pleased to have a Paul or proshift , even if it did not work so well .
 
Shimano works the best...I'll give you that.

I'm like you though, would rather have something a little different than whore myself out to Jap mainstream...I guess that's why I still drive a 15 year old Volvo instead of a new Toyota Tundra :LOL:

I ride shimano because I can not afford paul or proshift , but I run the shimano mech with grip shift because at the time it was different . :oops:

Even if i had a paul mech I would be too scared to use it ;)
 
talking Pauls mechs - when you shift to bigger sprockets using a paul mech, is the chain meant to be pushed by the cage? Seems a bit agricultural :?

My first pauls, so on a bit of learning curve.
