Kirk prototype?

Dont bother, unless you go single speed,
you will never find a front mech for this :!:

it is a normal Kirk , but seller doesnt know that . trouble is not front mech it is the small metal plate to fix it on .

Just the sellers description, but he doesn't say why he thinks its a proto.

the plate is on there, you just need a front mech from a 3 ring tour groupo.

as an aside i saw one of these self destruct into dust and bits of paint with the odd threaded insert size lump thrown in for good measure when one of my mates hit a big lump at 30mph way back in the 90's

The front mech is a rare beast , its an endless clamp top pull version, all the endless clamps I have ever seen were bottom pull .

I know someone who once send their kirk to be stove enamelled

The enamellers said , 'yeh, no problem we can do that', apparently it rode like jelly on a plate after that.

from my previous experience, the front mech. was called a 'direct on' front mech. made by shimano.
it's very rare and no longer available.
you would also need to special fixing plate which was unique to kirk.
i've seen both come up on ebay but, only once.
it's probably not worth the risk of buying it and waiting for one to turn up.
great as a single speed though.

Yup,
saw a bunch of bits couple of weeks ago with an LX version and the fixing plate attached, the ONLY time I have ever seen one for sale seperatley tho.
