That frameset has seen some serious weld filing action! Does he explain how/why in the text?

the first you mention is definitely not a manitou. really weird frame. anyone has a clue what it cuold be?

it is...some one took a fillet brazer to it to stop it breaking from the looks of it.

Agreed, probably the Marin version, definetely not a Manitou FS, he seems to be selling it as the real deal though :?

Don't think its a Marin - they had beaded welds like the Manitou, as did Balance. It's a real curiousity - the welds are deffo meant to be that way - even the cable stops are smooth! Some sort of proto?

Yeah, just noticed the smooth welds on the headtube :? , also the seattube is far to long with clamp incorperated, why would the welds be smooth on the main triangle but visable on the pivot points :?

Could be a frame with Manitou rear shocks grafted on, chainstays are not Manitou but the rear fork crown is, pivots at the bottom of the shock legs dont look right as well as the mentioned drop outs.
