Hei Hei in Spain...checkout the paint

Yup, '99 model IIRC, painted front end, last year they did it, only they know why they made it look like that.

I reckon it's quite sexy to be painted and have naked titanium showing, a bit like the cycling equivalent of hot pants! :D
 
It's hard to tell the difference between a 99 and a 2000. Both the 99 Hei Hei and King Kahuna had red fronts, but in different shades, the King Kahuna more orange. They were painted to match the colours of their forks (both had Z2 Super Flys, but slightly different colours). Picking up in the frame the colour of the fork was something Kona did quite a lot around that time. I like it personally.

There are some HHs and KKs around with the same decals but no red front, and opinions differ as to whether these are 99s with no red front or 2000s with slightly different decals to the standard. If it is the latter, then there was a 2000 Hei Hei. Otherwise, as theboy says, 99 was the last year of the Hei Hei.
