Klein Adroit Nightstorm 94

hmm attitude frame, no name fork, no mc2, worthless components..not seeing 2400 euros in value..

it has the wrong font for the klein logo, no chain protector yet no chain suck....wonder if it is a repaint..almost surely is?

Re:

Not necessarily a repaint. The "Klein" logo is for '93 but the seller lists the model as a '94. This was a period when Klein was in over their head trying to keep up with demand and the wait time from order to delivery could be up to 6 months. Since Storm and Nightstorm were special order only, it's conceivable that the original owner ordered in '93 and took delivery in '94. Hard to see if "Nuke" is painted on the chainstay' he did most of the Nightstorm frames. Still, as you mentioned, $2400 for the frame without the Strata fork or MC2 is a stretch. Couldn't see in the pictures if the water bottle bolts have the raised area underneath as a call sign for the Adroit frame and the scale of the larger frames always makes it hard for me to compare the proportion of the downtube to top tube to determine if it's 2" vs. the smaller downtube of an Attitude.

Re:

hmm maybe it is original paint. still twice what it is worth.

you can tell it's an attitude as the area on the down tube near the headtube where the cables go into the frame is different between the adroit and attitude

If that's the case, then it can't be original paint because Klein didn't paint "Adroit" on Attitude frames. :D However, for the 92, '93, '94 & '95 frames, the cable guides (that route the wires to go inside the frame) are identical between the Adroit and Attitude - they're not a point of differentiation between the 2 models.

Re:

Klein painted attitude frames as adroit near the end of the mc2 era. this is well documented. almost all purple 1995 adroits are attitude frames.

the downtube upper cable guides on real mc2 adroits are different..see pic of real adroit guide. compare this to the one on eBay. the one on ebay is an attitude frame, but it could still be original paint.

I think we're saying the same thing...the 'real' Adroits have always been different from the Attitude by virtue of a 2" diameter downtube that has boron carbon fiber for vibration reduction. None of the Attitude frames sold as 'Attitudes' have a 2" downtube. I can't make out from the pic what the downtube cable guide looks like but IF it's a 2" downtube, then it IS an Adroit, agreed?

Re:

if it has a 2'' downtube it is a real adroit. also the serial number will have an X instead of an A. On attitude frames, there is a recess in the downtube itself for the upper cable guide, whereas the adroit frame doesn't have this. This is the easiest way to spot a real adroit from a photo if you cant make out the downtube diameter.

Here are some more pics showing the difference.

Re:

Out of curiosity - Are the above differences also markers of a distinct difference in the value of each frame?
