LOOK Fournales carbon linkage forks

Re:

Blimey!
aren't these all the earlier 'bushing' ones? (as opposed to the heavily machined cartridge-bearing version)

Yup...those are all the middle Mk2 ones, with the bearing at the top of the main fork leg, and brass bushings with grease injection ports everywhere else.
There's a medium MK3 with 608 bearings all round here on Leboncoin, 600 euros.

It's attached to a meh Specialized, though:

All the best,

Re:

Interesting Dan. Do you know how the Mk2's differed from the originals?
(I've some Mk3's, which I'd wrongly assumed to be second gen')

Here's a summary as far as I understand it, with pictures purloined from all over:

By Mk1 I meant the Fournales Shark, which has the same linkages, but is a narrower fork with aluminium legs. A lovely looking sub 1400g fork:

It has bearings at the same place as the Mk2, but only plain bushes for the others, no grease injection:

The linkages are machined away more than the Mk2:

but it still has the dirt-guard plate on the bottom:

And a smarter red front plate on the single piece machined crown than the Mk2's bolted on 3-piece crown:

Then after that came the even rarer Fournales branded Cobra XC carbon, not branded as LOOK, and sometimes has the stem integrated with the top yoke.

Re:

Fantastic stuff, Dan you are indeed The Man!
Don't think I've seen the Shark before - reminds me a bit of a Quasar, but a better design no doubt.
I've noticed there seems to be a few subtle variations of the Mk3 regarding the split steerer system, mine doesn't have the pinch-bolt for example.

All look well made.. the intricate machining on the later models is something else -even if a little disconcertingly delicate in places!

Re:

Nice write up Dan , i do like these but are way out of my price bracket , so must be content with AMP and USE SUB forks
