Obviously got the cash to splash and not care. I'd be tempted at a cheeky offer if I lived in the area.
 
At 6 weeks surely it would have been replaced free of charge under warranty. What I think however is this is not a 6 week old bike but just that they bought it 6 weeks ago.

They probably bought it far cheaper, have very little knowledge of bikes or patience for them and are looking to may a quick quid, although asking them for the frame number to check it's clear might give you an answer on the other suspicion
