Almost as if the rear is off a different bike.

1999/2000 mk2 version of the top of the Claud range ARC.. introduced in ‘98. Rear triangle is original, looks like the smaller 17” version

Thanks all, looks like a Claude Butler Arc 3000. Found another photo of the same model!
It looks a lot better with the stickers on.

It may well be the case that the rear end was bought in from another company, I think Saracen did something similar and used a risse rear end on similar aged bikes.
I guess it was a UK only model, to avoid patent issues with the four bar rear end.

Are you tempted then Peachy ?

Would be a great addition to the stable and a winter Claud project

If it was the 20”..... can’t be any worse a bike to ride than my appalling Y-Trek...
