Sure I’ve bought bike cheaper in the past, and have probably turned them around for around the £50 mark into a decent bike.

To me, that doesn’t look like much work.

I would be inclined to agree, unless I've missed something... Ditch the crap brakes and wheels for something better and you're halfway there already.

It's even still got the original Curve chainset, bars and brake levers, by the looks of things - all things that generally tend to go missing. Is that also a set of Time pedals I spy there?

If the forks are serviceable and shock isn't goosed it could almost be a bargain if you're local :)
 
List of things to check:

Stuck seat-post
Cracks in the pivot points
Salvageable pivot bolts
Dents where the rear triangle is hitting the main frame
Leaking rear shock - I'll stick my neck out and say it's shot - try finding a new one/one that fits

As you point out, new front shock needed or springs to replace the elastomers, new brakes, saddle and so on. It's a project...
