The (quill) Flex stem had a brake noodle at the bottom of the stem, so it'd only move a couple of mm at most. The further along the stem it is the more I'll affect braking.
Not sure I'd want to try the one on ebay, shouldn't be too much different though I'd have thought?

That’s just a cheap shit copy and agree the braking will be crap


Here’s mine as a comparison which has a new rubber in it and the suspension (if you can call it that) translates to quiet a bit of travel at the bars
Naturally the bars are further away from the pivot point than this hole/cable stop be even so braking whilst decending* could be very interesting

*never seen anyone brake whilst climbing
