I have been using this as my commuter hence the slicks, but have finally got my road bike back on the road, so it is time to part with it.
This is one of the last non-disc Explosif frames, from 2002, made from OX True Temper with the lovely Ritchey dropouts.
It is a 20” frame so will suit people 6ft +.
The frame is in good condition such that it could easily pass for a lot newer than its 15 year age!
I used it as a commuter so tried to make it look inconspicuous, mainly by removing stickers and sticky taping pipe lagging around the frame, which I have obviously now removed!
Most of the groupset is Deore LX from the M56x series.
I love this groupset and it is old enough now that people aren’t attracted to it to steal it, yet still looks tidy and functions brilliantly.
It has 9 speed Deore/SLX shifters and cassette.
The forks are Marzocchi Bomber Z2s from 97 I think, they have the non IS disc mount and are red underneath the black sticky tape.
The Syncros stem is missing its main decals, although it does have the ‘Hammer n Cycle’ sticker intact and comes complete with the alloy top cap.
The rear wheel is a Deore XT 9 speed on Mavic XC717, the front is a Deore of the same era with a Mavic X517 which is missing its sticker.
I have ‘ummed’ and ‘aahed’ about what to sell this for til I am blue in the face.
So I’m asking £175 to my fellow retrobikers.
I reckon the frame has to be worth £50, the forks another £50 and the bits are easily worth £75 so hopefully I’m in the right ballpark, feel free to put me right if I’m not.
Pics up shortly
Cheers
Dave
