SBDU Raleigh in the High Peak

Has a 753 sticker but lots of chrome. :?
Unusual as it's got mudguard mounts.

My memory is hazy but the odd early "oversize seat stay capped" Carlton Pro's had chrome and mudguard eyes....I wonder what the number is?

The seller has given the frame number has SB1758, which put makes it around mid 1977. It has a 753 decal but it would have been built with 531 has Raleigh did not chrome 753`s as the polishing process could weaken the ultra thin walls of the tubing.

Yep, 1977 ish SBDU so not an errant Carlton Pro. I have to agree that it's 531, other certified 753 builders chromed it (at their own risk).

not a stock frame from EG bates etc so wonder if there is also an "H" number on the BB from a custon build?

The decal looks exactly like the pretty shoddy one my mate received from H Lloyd, the *copyright* holder on Reynolds decals pre 1990. Lloyd has been mostly superseded by better/cheaper decal suppliers on eBay, but this definitely looks like one of his efforts. Would concur 100% that this is just another 'wannabee' 753. :facepalm:
