Vintage Eddy Merckx, eBay Wirral - only 165 bids so far!

I first thought he had a badly configured automated bidding computer program running there to put 150ish bids incrementing by 1p, but the time gaps are so irregular and large I now think he's just a tight ar$ed muppet with too much time on his hands!
 
I wonder what damage to the gas pipe tubing is hidden by that Gold paint behind the head tube ?.

Avoid, and judging by the sellers? or others weired bidding I would be twice as wary.
