I notice in the sellers photo album that the cables come from the outside of each Kronos Brake lever and run along the Back of the bars , is that normal ? I have always set them up the other way around (or drilled a hole under each lever and in the ferrule section)

I do not know for the Kronos, but it was the same with every AX bike I had my hands on so far.

Yes, quite common in the days before handlebars with cable slots if you didn't want to drill the bars.
With the cables along the backside of the bars they are out of the way of your palms and fingers.

The Kronos levers are prepared for cable exit on both sides:
