I wonder how a front mech attaches to it ? I see the holes for the cables to come out of and on the top of the top tube where they go in...

oops I have seen a black braze on FD fitting in the dropout/hanger picture

This design reminds me of my old Villiger eagle, I sold that for 15% of the Lotus. £2k though is a bit much even if it was an actual team bike(where was the provenance though?)

I know the seller and he's a good chap. I have a good idea as to the source of this frame although of course it might have been good to give a bit of evidence in the auction. either way it made it's money. I'm unclear as the team connection added anything to the value.
 
This does look 100% authentic, if you look at the pic of the seatpost you will see the rider name on the frame. This is the same text style and label that the Z and Gan team used to put riders name on the bikes. Posted a while back in the ebay section but you will see the same labelling used on the multicolour Z bike that was Greg Lemond's own bike.
