I can't tell what size tyres for sure, but it looks like its on 27s to me, it'd make a cracking every day bike though, looks in good nick too.
 
I agree - Weinmann concave rims so a strong bet it's 27s. Personally I'd switch to 700c and enjoy the possibilities from larger tyres as a bonus. I've just done it with a 1979 Witcomb very successfully.

That's very nice! Does look like 27s. Pads are set as low as will go (front at least), so 700s would need different brakes. I favoured Weinmann centre pulls when making such a change - come in different lengths and with modern V brake pads work a lot better than old side pulls. But then once start changing wheels etc the bike ceases to be a bargain!
