I think this is the largest turn out for one of my road rides to date!

Helped by non forum mates Johnathon on the left, reliable Mick, Tim and Tim's friend Colin, pictured on the right.

So from Shoreham, off we trundled, heading north past Lancing college, and up to Steyning. Where we DIDN'T stop for any cafes   but carried on towards Wiston, then Ashington, where we took in some refreshments at Jungle cafe.

Under the A24, through Ashington, heading west through some country lanes,

And into Storrington, past Parham Park on the way to Pulborough, before heading out west towards Greatham and back on quiet roads.

Onwards through small lanes to Sutton, taking us to the bottom of Duncton Hill, the big hill of the ride. Stopping near the top, at the viewing point, much to the relief of some!

Looking north east, towards Petworth and beyond!

Then up to the top, and a bit of main road towards, then through Eartham and to what turned out to be a great lunch stop at Slindon.

Where Johnathon left us, as he had done a 25 before the ride  and had to be home for another event. Then Tim and Colin decided to catch the train home from there as well. Leaving Godders and me to ride through a heaving Ferring, Lancing and Worthing, before going our separate ways.

All in all a really nice ride, for me at least, maybe a bit too much main road, I will work on the route, with good friends and great food stops.

Thanks for coming out lads, it's always nice to meet up and ride together, especially on this fourth anniversary, remembering those we will never ride with again. God bless you.

Thank you,

Mike

Looking at Mikes photographic evidence I’m more inclined to think it was the healthy well balanced dinner weighing you down

Monster Sausage roll - Cake washed down with a full fat Red label Coke - diet of champions

Looks like you all had a great ride !

Re:

It was a decent cafe or two?

Actually three, as we had coffee in Worthing too

Yes Spud you might be right, I was pretty tired by the time we got to the cafe but I think the sausage roll polished me off. Finishing it took almost as much effort as conquering the climb we'd just done!
