Hi folks,

I was wondering if any of you would like to do a road ride around Christmas time, instead of the usual Arundel loop on the mountain bikes.

I'll gauge interest before committing. Could still start at Arundel if that suits.

Should go without saying, there will be a cafe stop!

Confirmed, Arundel Station, 10.30am!

A tentative maybe, possibly, from me.

Do the Bognor club still do their frostbite 10 on New Year's day? Did it with Green Rabbit one year in sub zero temps, ice on the road... I caught my minute man in the first 3 miles and finished second by a couple of seconds. I knew that I should have taken the mudguards off my bike

Hope you can make it mate. I know Brighton Excelsior do a New Year's Day 10 at Steyning, but don't know about Bognor

Anything happening with this one, I've got a road route I'd like to organise at some point, maybe in the new year?

Yeah as it's winter, saves a lot of bike cleaning! I was even eyeing up some old Falcon road bike on ebay!

Right here we go then, 29th it is. Starting at Arundel railway station, 10.30

Did a recce yesterday, 36km to the cafe for lunch or cake, with another 9km back to the start. Only two hills, up to Whiteways, or one if you want to meet me there. The rest of the route is pretty flat, you could almost do it on a track bike! Mainly single track roads, with a couple of short main road sections. There's some photos in the 'Todays' road ride' thread.

See you soon!

You said 'almost ok for a track bike', do you think I'd be ok on that old single speed thing I rode on the rustington rice? Or shall I play it safe with something modern?

There are two hills, long ones. Other than that it's ok for that bike, but the Specialized would be better, with gears

I 'may' have accidentally purchased a(nother) new bike yesterday that 'may' join me for this ride..

Cool!

This month I've built three, but realistically, in this weather, on one of those three to choose from! As well as the usual suspects

Looks like I'm ok, unless it's raining, I'm allowed to stay in bed if it's raining before I set out on a ride.

I think it looks like rain at some point during the morning.

My rule is if it's raining when I wake up or get the bike out I stay in bed. If it rains on the ride then that's fine, I just moan and grumble about it, lots.

Bobcatmax may join us too.

It's raining here at present. Who is still interested in a ride if it's raining at the meeting time of 10.30?

I've taken the executive decision to postpone this ride until the New Year, when hopefully it will be better for us!

Weather is horrible here. I'll still go if you're up for it but might be best to leave it for another time? Either way I need to know fairly soon as I was planning on getting the train. Forecast for Sunday is ok, we could rearrange to then?

Yeah the sky is getting clearer here now but still seeing strong gusts of wind. Ironically it may have been ok if we postponed for an hour or so but you made the right call at the time Mike.

I’ll head out later onto the SDW on the new bike to make up for it.

Let’s get out soon though fellas.

I went for a ride about 10.00 and had blue skies and not a drop of rain all day, was windy though.
