I have a possible conflict, but not confirmed yet for that weekend. My mates stag do is that weekend or the following, but not decided yet.

Provisionally I'm in, unless the stag do is confirmed for that weekend!

How about meeting at the Studland side of the chain ferry at 10:30?
I can plot a good 25 mile route from there, taking in lunch in Corfe and then a pub stop on the way back too.

I could be up for this...my parents live in Lulworth and I was planning on visiting them easter weekend...so might be able to tag along, if not for all of the ride maybe part of it? Need to check with my folks and my wife to see what our plans are...what sort of time were you thinking?

If you're coming from Lulworth, you'd probably be best off meeting us in Corfe. I'd estimate that we'll be there around 12 (depending on how many stops we have!)

Got out and rode part of the route this afternoon!
Good and bad news...the good is that its not TOO muddy.
The bad is that one of the best sections has been completely ruined by the national trust!
It was my first proper ride since October, so the big hills killed me.
Managed 22 miles though, and took some pics...

10 am this side, 10.30 Studland side

Author:  wookiee [ Sat Mar 30, 2013 12:38 am ]
Post subject:  Re: Purbecks ride.....31st march

...so trying to make this happen for me, I can make the Studland side of the ferry for 10.30...but need to be back in Lulworth for a family lunch at 1pm! Thanks to an understanding wife I should be able to be dropped off at Studland Ferry and then hopefully picked up in Corfe at 12.30-45? Is the a realistic time for the duration of that section of the ride????

The ever optimistic Wookiee!!

That's deffo enough time! Even if we have a major mechanical, I can point you in the direction of corfe so you get there in time.
I'm hoping that a few of my friends will be coming along, but it will still be a small group.

Weather looking cold, but sunny, so should be perfect :D

Was a top ride for me, nice to meet some like minded guys in the flesh. And really good weather/conditions. That climb up the chalky hill towards Corfe was a mudda fecker though! But the down the other side made it almost worthwhile. Now I love my bike, but as the only rider with rigid forks it was a boneshaker!

My clumsy gloved fingers meant that the decent into Corfe didn't record

Thanks to Gravymonster for the gopro chest mount! First attempt with it, and now know I need to tilt it more :D

That last hill was gnarly! Lots of roots, didn't help with Lumos shooting off to the left in front of me as he had a slight technical (safely BTW). That unnerved me though, as well as when I hit a root drop off while landing the previous one. Bottled it a bit

you'll keep up with me no worries. TBH ive done that route a lot in my time but ive had a long time off the bike recently. that was probley the hardest ive found it.

I normaly do the same route in the other direction, short climbs and long downhills.

having a closer look there are lost of little deviations you can make to that route depending on weather conditions, grockel density etc. its a fun place to get lost, I rarely ride the same route twice and there's always a pub in walking distance

That was the hardest I've found that route for a long time too Luke, so it wasn't just you!
I had absolutely nothing left by the time I got home.
It was that head wind all the way back that was the killer.

I'm deffo up for doing a similar route again sometime soon :D

I'd be up for another ride for sure...went out on my "modern" Marin full suss today. Think I have got more used to the Team and BV as it seemed a very upright ride position which took a bit to get used to! That and it was a bitch on the road getting to the woods! I think the retro in me is taking over...although the full suss was nice and comfy on the bumpy stuff and I felt more confident on it...Maybe a retro hardtail is the next thing I "need"!
