The Retrobike Rides Monthly Newsletter - July 2011

June was frantic to say the least for RetroBike Riders. Mountain Mayhem being the focal point of the month with 50 RetroBikers taking to the track and 50 more fighting for the loud hailer trackside in the heckling tent. A full aftermath write up of the event can be found here, eleven pages of aftermath goes to show the fun that was had.

Retrobike Rides have now been going strong for many years. They have evolved from a couple of dodgy looking characters meeting in the woods to ride their retro pride and joys to groups of up to 40 enthusiasts meeting up to enjoy their bikes, company and trails.
In doing so a friendly atmosphere has been created and good riding manners developed, giving Retrobike Rides unique qualities and banter. As always with Retrobike Rides, everyone is welcome and made to feel welcome.
All abilities are catered for with the rule being we only get round as fast as the slowest person, with short cuts and chicken runs being planned into the routes.

If this appeals to you, please come and join in at one of our National or Local events.

June:
June was all about Mountain Mayhem for the NWA with a healthy turn out of ten riders competing on various teams. A close battle between the 'Bear Necessities' and 'Unleash the Inner Chimp' in the four man teams competition saw the Bears crash and burn in the Malvern mud. The Chimps didn't really even need unleashing afterall but everyone was smiling in the end.
Earlier in June a ride on Hobson Moor near Manchester was blessed with warm sunshine and then cursed with a heavy hail storm and back again all within the space of a few hours. A great little ride was had by all in attendance.

July:
Our last visit to Settle and Malham in February turned into a wintry epic after an unexpected overnight fall of heavy snow. We promised a return trip in Summer, so once again we'll be meeting up with the Yorkies for a re-run. Hopefully the weather will permit the full and fantastic route this time.

Dominated by Mountain Mayhem, of course, where an East Midlands team was represented and did reasonably well despite various mishaps!

June:
June saw the Anglian & Lincs area send two teams to Mountain Mayhem. Mixed sucess in the race but a win on the social side. If you are in any doubt about attending such an event just do it, you will not regret it.

July:
9th July
We have a few riders taking part in the Mud, Sweat & Gears Thetford summer enduro. A race which has several different categories racing at the same time. 10hr, 8hr & 6hr in solo and pairs. Should be fun! link to the event page here

24th July
We have the infamous 'Gates of Wrath' ride taking place at Huntingdon. A fantastic event which takes in the picturesque villages and countryside of the area. Last years ride turned into a 6 hour - 37 mile epic. Link to the event page here

June:
So June was always gonna be about mayhem! the SW made up most of one of the 10 man teams which we were quite happy with and i also think splatterpaint had his own 4 man team. also the concourse winner from the friday night belonged to gravymonster, an almost NOS saracen from the late 80's. the weekend was exactly as expected, fun, social, silly, and only serious (ish) when actually riding!

July:
I personally can't get to any meets in july but tiboltrider (tim) is organising a ride near Haldon on the 17th

* These low scores generally indicate that Sinnett177 couldn’t recognise you and so could only score on basic things like attendance. If you drop him a PM with a description of who you are and what you were riding you will have your points amended. If you've been missed off completely, again PM as above.

Enjoy your riding!
