Hi Anglianers, would I be correct in thinking that the Circuit of the Fens sportive falls in your region? Anyone doing it or done it?

I'll stick my neck out and guess its fairly flat? How bad do the winds get in July?

Nagging gradients but once out in the fens, yes flat.

Wind is no worse than anywhere else

Don't be fooled by the apparent flatness. The bits that are not on the fens are surprisingly bumpy, long grinding climbs. As LGF said, the wind on the fens can be a killer. I know people that have done the '100' on this ride and they say it is as hard as any other '100'.

wasnt this shortened due to a terrible accident? Some poor sod hit a steam traction engine

My girlfriends' nephew hit a horse and cart and cracked a vertebrae during a timetrial.

That's pretty bad, hope the guy pulls through. Friend of a friend was draughting a coach and didn't see it swing out around a stationary car. He wrote the car off. Occupants needed treating for shock. Off duty police officer saved his life by performing a Tracheotomy. Always pays to look where you are going....

On a lighter note - how did it go Kaiser?
