to be quite honest, i only ride the trail, i don't know any routes since i'm kind of a newbie to the area and haven't got a map, i could doo with stretching my legs on some new stuff though, sorry if that doesn't really help
Grenoside woods is supposed to be one of the best places to ride in the country, especially for downhillers. But to be honest I normally just ride the transpennine trail and don't get off the beaten track (not very fit)
There are some great roads for cycling on the road, and some good hills too. They have a national hill-climb in Stocksbridge every year.
I did cut gate last year in full, riding on road there, and off-road back which was great fun.
