Ride to York 1day! I did, mostly country 'B' roads & some tracks, flat mostly some challenging hills, York is lovely! Some signs are misleading as appear in no particular order, when compared to their distance, but you get the idea, keep going your miles away yet & how/when are you going to find your way back when it's dark & your tired!!

Hull to York TT: 110 miles return in 9 hours return.

Walkington, Dog & Duck
North Newbald
Market Weighton
Pocklington

Route 66:
Londesborough
Burnby
Barmby Moor

York cycle track Route 66, Foss Island Rd near Lawrence St.

Prominent Places:

Minister/Deanery Gardens, near DeanGate & Goodramgate.

York Museum/Memorial Gardens Museum St & Station Rd near York Minister,

Rowntree Park, Terry Av.

Millennium Bridge Route 66, Butcher Terrace or Maple Grove.

Location: Leeds, for ages!
That's a good day in saddle, nice one!

I've frequented york for over a year now on work related visits and i'm still amazed how york has accommodated cyclists not just central city but as far as you are in a york postcode, amazing.

Leeds is decades away from this commitment to greener living as we are still concentrating on making sure motorists are well stung for the privilege of parking a bloody car on waste land before yet another office block gets erected in it's place.

You are correct though, i've tried following signs for the trans penine trail and you need a 'read between the lines' approach to it, or ask and old man having a smoke whilst leaning on his garden wall, sort of thing. Conversely in some some parts there is a sign every half mile or so. I suppose you can only get lost once, then it's memory from there.

cheers. 8)
