And some not so good:

The first North West and North Wales Bike of The Ride 2010 (BoTR 2010) was chosen by the youngest rider on the ride and my did that young fella choose well, my Raleigh Dyna-Tech! Sadly the evil DSP power washed the sticker off later in the day

Hope you all had a great day, hope to see you all again very soon.

Brilliant day.
My awesome lack of fitness reared it's ugly head in the afternoon but it didn't spoil a great time.
Great Group, nice to see more faces/names.
Great Bikes.
Great surroundings.

Thanks to all.

Just got through the door. Shower and food needed badly!
Very enjoyable day with great company and even the weather gods were kind. Huge thanks to the NWAs for having us Yorkies along and a big big thanks to Mark and Paul for the slick organization- very proffesional and loved the infectious enthusiasm. Glad to meet some new faces although I'm rubbish with names- I will know you by bike next time

Right then, where's the curry menu gone?

Cheers

Great big thank you to everyone for making the effort to come along and share in a very successful ride. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting lots of new and not so new faces.
Apologies for holding everyone up with the one and only puncture, but no apologies whatsoever for cleaning Mark's Dyna-Tech for him.

And now for some pictures... lots of pictures:

Great day out, nice to meet some of you guys and see some awesome bikes. Hats off to Mark and Paul for such a brilliantly organised event.

Apologies if we held anyone up, Mrs E_R took a tumble at the start on the ice and had a confidence knock (elPedro666 did a sterling job of avoiding her too  ) so we hung back for the rest of the ride.

After initially not seeing eye to eye with the Saracen on her maiden off road voyage, we came to an agreement towards the end after it threw me off twice in comical spd stuck fashion (luckily no one saw either  ) that I would stop slagging of her weight and we got on much better after that, could be won by her yet.

This is what I got, but seem to have 1 name too many as I counted 23 and not 24 riders in the photo (me and Mr. K excluded as we were taking pictures).

sinnett177, mr_ship, Drystonepaul, Woody, Stally, Stewlewis, Andy, Harrycrumb, Neil and son, Elpedro and wife, Crud, Easyrider and wife, Garrema, Shaun, Brocklanders, Beavis, Giant1, Mr. K, Dr. S, Saltiman, Sithlord.

I'll have the first go at the bike/person matching game.
As I was in charge of making head counts I remember counting 23 out and in again, so i'm not sure where the extra name has come from. I did think that sinnett177 made a list when he handed out the welcome packs and maps but...

sinnett177: Team Raleigh Dyna-Tech
mr_ship: Nuke Proof Ti
drystonepaul: Raleigh Dyna Tech
Woody: DeKerf Generation
Stally: Specialized S-works
Stewlewis: Giant Box One retro full susser
Andybag: Grisley Mega 20
Harrycrumb: Parkpre 825
Neil: Trek 950
and son: Scott
Elpedro666: Modern mmmbop
and Kiran: Ibis Alibi
crud: Saracen Sahara Elite
easy_rider: Saracen Traverse Hydrotech
and wife: Kona full susser
Garrema:
Shaun: KHS Ti
Brocklanders: Orange Clockwork LX
Beavis: Marin Pine Mountain
Giant1: Modern Giant full suss nonsense
Mr. K: Mantis Pro Floater lovely retro full suss nonsense
Dr. S: Mountain Goat WTR
Saltyman: Pace RC200 F3
Sithlord: Ritchey P20

Apologies for and mistakes/gaps/sarcasm.
Please feel free to make any additions and corrections. :)

My nonsense was a Giant Box One.
Mr K's lovely nonsense was a Mantis.
Andy was on Grisley Mega 20.

Mr. K: retro full suss nonsense (what was it?) ........
Wasn't that the lovely Mantis?

Giant1: Modern Giant full suss nonsense .......
   I'll shame him into sorting some retro out. He had a single speed Ridgeback in the van but didn't have the bottle to be stuck in the same gear.

Of course it was a Mantis. Mr K moved so fast every time I tried to either photograph him or hang onto his wheel on the climbs and descents I never clearly made it out. He rides like a pro y'know...

Although it pains me to type it - the strangely compelling double act that is Mark and Paul, have a happy knack of arranging top rides with top weather and company... long may it continue!

Memories include:

> severe lack of signage en route to Tosside - expected dayglo markers from the end of the M66...
> people riding rented bikes - what's that about??
> the ice maiden sliding down the first fire road in front of me...
> awesome turnout - although we had to wait for Dr S's Gaviscom to take effect before we could pedal off...
> young Sean cracking under the pressure exacted by the ride leader
> the Mantis random ejector seat - note to self: get some damping in that rear shock
> duck board - with ice :-(
> fag breaks
> lots of titanium hardware on show
> chip butties - still gastronomic bliss after all these years
> easier bottom half that lulled me into a false sense of security and well being for the second, manlier half...
> at last, other people taking snaps!

So, a few black marks earnt here and there just go to prove that, unlike certain holy grails, the quest for the perfect ride must continue for Mark and Paul - would we have it any other way?! ;-)

Thanks to all that turned out - hope to ride with you again.

Mr K

Super-slick day out, very impressed with Mark & Paul's organising, the turnout, the bikes (except mine - but my Ibis did at least get ridden!) even the weather! 8)

Some stunning photos - thanks to all who've posted them.

Mountain Goat for my pick, although the De Kerf pushed it hard, and Si's Ritchey is almost too perfected, if that makes any sense :?

Chili was awesome too (in the bar afterwards)

Thanks again, see you all soon...

I'm guessing I don't deserve one of these...?

Although the only reason I wasn't riding retro was that I lent my retro to a newbie who wouldn't otherwise have been able to come, thus swelling the ranks and generally doing good for the entire cause, so I might plead my case a little  8)

Plus we brought cake.

That was the cranks dropping a load and rubbing the chainstays. mr_ship had to swap them for a spare set of mint M900 XTRs before actually riding it.

true story.
