Post subject:  'Retrobike Rider' Banner!

Many of you have been wondering about these banners that have been appearing below peoples usernames. For example I have 'Gold Trader' status for having 30+ positive feedbacks in the feedback forum and also 'BoTM winner' for winning Bike of The Month.

Now there is another available, for retrobike riders.

Image

These are available only to those who have attended a retrobike meet and ridden retro. The first of these will be given out to those attending Farleton this weekend and rode retro.

I'll pass a list of these eligiable people onto John, he'll then update your status to include your 'retrobike rider' banner.
Anyone who I mistakenly miss out, please PM me directly and i'll get it sorted for you.

If I had my way you'd have to be a good boy (for a change!) and turn out at your next local RB meet. John on the other hand might be more forgiving and let you have a banner! Drop him a message and see what he says.

I should really apologise for adding to all your banner based bother.

Thanks though John, it looks good. Perhaps I should colour coordinate my avatar...

does my IOW ride count to get the banner? :D most of the members who turn up do ride retro!

and it is my 3rd retro meet arranged by me where i always ride retro, and i did race OSMM09 on the explosif, and the old world champs! can't wait for both for next year! :D

i can wait till the IOW ride to earn my banner, but i must admit i feel like my avatar looks a little naked at the mo! plus i will admit i'm a little jealous of everyonelses banners! :( . . . . . :D

Post subject:  Stop. Banner time!

The clan MacRetro have been discussing their own personalised and patriotic retrobike rider banner in a very entertaining thread here.

It's a great read. Highlight for me has to be from The Ken...

The Ken wrote:
This isn't an insignificant mark stumbled across by strangers, it is a mark earned by blood and toil wrenched from the earth itself, a mark that lets us stand proud amongst a whole army of my countrymen, here in defiance of tyranny!
You have come to ride as free men. And free man you are! What will you do without MacRetro? Will you ride? "Two bikes against ten?
Fight and you may die. Run and you will live at least awhile but look gay in the process.
And dying in your bed many years from now, would you be willing to trade all the days from this day to that for one chance, just one chance, to come back here as young men and tell our enemies that they may take our lives but they will never take our bicycles!

I think John isn't keen on making the banner's too region specific.

John wrote:
I'm not looking for banners for each region. Really what would we have for the Midlands, a banner with a picture of Jasper Carrot on?

What would we have for the North West, Stuart Hall?

Certainly was, although it was on a RetroBike ride. Re-read the 'rules' and found the bit about riding retro. I have retro intentions, but my wallet does not :(

Post subject:  Re: 'Retrobike Rider' Banner!

Just doing a bit of idle browsing and came across the posts about a banner with Stuart Hall on page 2 of this thread.
Given the recent allegations againts Mr Hall it brings a whole new meaning to "Retrorider" !
