Hi, my name is Derek from northwich in cheshire. just bought myself a mountain bike and have been pounding the roads of hartford in northwich, but i would love to take it off road, say round delamere or anywhere really. I'm unfit so would need a beginners route but at the same time, wouldn't mind a feww steep hills up and down. is there a website with routes around delamere or close by all ready out there, or can anyone point me in the right direction.

i Know its a long shot as most or maybe all don't live in this area but thought it would be worth a shot. thanks for reading and hope someone can help.

I think it's fair to say that our recent trip to Delamere wasn't exactly blessed with local knowledge: --> http://www.retrobike.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?t=212059

That said it's a good place to just go and explore. There aren't many hills and the trails aren't particularly tricky or technical.
Just go along and see what you can find.

If you head east you'll hit the edge of the Peak District. I'm in Macclesfield and there is some good riding to be had in Macc Forest and further out into the hills.
The emphasis is on hills though as it's not exactly flat.

I resemble that remark! :p

Definitely some more exploring to be done around Delamere and a few of us will be doing a social one at Llandegla sometime soonish.

Have you done any offroad at all before? This Sunday could be a really good ride to get started on:

Will be a few quality descents but sure with a little help and some common sense it shouldn't be any problem
